MINUTES OF ANNUAL PARISH MEETING OF RICHARDS CASTLE (SHROPSHIRE) PARISH HELD AT 7.20 PM ON THURSDAY 16 MAY 2024 AT THE VILLAGE HALL
PRESENT: Cllr. H Salwey (Chairman); Cllr. V Hawkins; Cllr. A Hall; Cllr. R Smith; Cllr. A Cowell; Cllr. A Wright; and nine (9) members of the public.
IN ATTENDANCE: PCSO S Harper, West Mercia Police; Friends of Mortimer Forest; Ward Cllr. V Parry; and Mr R Hewitt, Clerk.
Cllr. H Salwey chaired the annual parish meeting.
1. Apologies – Cllr. D Ayres.
2. Minutes of the Joint Annual Parish Meeting held on 18 May 2023 – The minutes of the meeting were agreed and signed as a correct record.
3. Report from the Ludlow South Ward Councillor, Shropshire Council
Ward Cllr. V Parry thanked the Richards Castle parish councils for the seven oak trees planted as part of the green canopy to mark the Platinum Jubilee of the late Queen. Shropshire Council is looking to find £10 million in savings. A new company has been appointed for A and B roads. Potholes on Wheatcommon Lane have been reported to the highway authority. Social services are facing staffing challenges and using agency staff. Local police were thanked.
4. Annual Report from Richards Castle (Shropshire) Parish Council
Cllr. H Salwey, chairman, kindly reported on the year. The report is available with the parish council records.
7. Items from Members of the Public
PCSO S Harper, West Mercia Police reported on local police matters. Friends of Mortimer Forest kindly provided an overview of the forest and initiatives to support and encourage wildlife and biodiversity.
